28 players will head to Tokyo for the opener against the A's, 3 of which will be inactive, and 9 of them will be in the dugout. Wakefield and Buchholz are expected to start the first two exhibition games; Dice-K and Lester will start the regular-season games.
Three exhibition games in LA will follow the season opener. Expected pitchers are Wakefield, Buchholz, and Colon.
The roster will have to get down to 25 before the Sox meet the Angels for regular season play on April 1.
